DODA, MARCH 16: A meeting of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) was held today to review the status of road safety measures and ensure effective implementation of the Action Plan. Deputy Commissioner Krishan Lal chaired the meeting held in the conference hall of DC Office Complex.

At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the decisions taken in the previous meeting of the District Road Safety Committee held on December 20, 2025. The officials from concerned departments informed the meeting about the progress made on the road safety initiatives and the compliance status of directions issued at the last meeting. The issue of encroachments along National Highway stretches was also discussed. The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned agencies to take time-bound action for removal of encroachments, which were observed to be contributing to traffic congestion and safety hazards.

The meeting also deliberated on the traffic management challenges in the Doda town due to the increasing number of e-Rickshaws. The ARTO was directed to submit a comprehensive report along with suitable regulatory measures for effective management and regulation of e-Rickshaw operations in the town.

A review of the Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD) portal was also conducted during the meeting. The stakeholders were directed to ensure timely and accurate uploading of accident-related data on the portal and maintain strict monitoring.

Several other issues including identification and rectification of accident-prone locations, strengthening enforcement of traffic regulations, road engineering improvements and enhancing public awareness regarding road safety were also discussed in detail.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Superintendent of Police Doda, ARTO Doda and district and sectoral officers of various departments, while Additional Deputy Commissioners, Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Tehsildars joined the meeting through virtual mode.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to ensure timely implementation of road safety measures and submission of progress reports so that effective steps can be taken to enhance road safety across District Doda.
