KATHUA, OCTOBER 7: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today presided over a solemn function organised at Village Garniari (Amala) to commemorate the 25th Shaheedi Diwas of Shaheed Gdr. Surinder Kumar, Sena Medal, who made the supreme sacrifice for the Nation.
The Deputy Commissioner, along with Army personnel, family members and local citizens, offered floral tributes at the memorial of the martyr. A Guard of Honour was presented by the Army followed by wreath laying and Shardhanjali by the general public as a mark of respect to the valiant soldier.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner remembered the exceptional courage and sacrifice of Shaheed Surinder Kumar and said that such supreme acts of bravery continue to inspire the younger generations to serve the nation with dedication and honour. He reiterated the commitment of the District Administration to extend all possible support to the families of martyrs.
On the occasion, the father of the martyr was felicitated with a shawl as a mark of respect and gratitude for his son’s supreme sacrifice.
Senior Army officers, SDM Hiranagar Phulail Singh, family members of the martyr and a large number of local residents participated in the event and paid glowing tributes to the braveheart.
