DC Kathua reviews preparations for Self-Enumeration phase of Census 2027

KATHUA, MAY 15: The District Administration Kathua today organized a virtual meeting under the chairmanship of Principal Census Officer (Deputy Commissioner) Rajesh Sharma to review preparations for the upcoming Self-Enumeration phase of Census 2027, scheduled to be conducted from May 17 to May 31, 2026.

The meeting was attended by all District and Sectoral Heads, Principals of Government Degree Colleges, senior officers of the district administration and police department through virtual mode.

The deliberations focused on ensuring effective awareness generation and smooth implementation of the Self-Enumeration process across the district so that maximum public participation is achieved in the important national exercise.

During the meeting, officers were sensitized about the significance of Self-Enumeration in the Census process and were instructed to disseminate information among the general public through extensive outreach and awareness activities. Stress was laid on coordinated efforts by all departments to facilitate hassle-free, accurate and timely completion of the Census exercise.

The Principal Census Officer emphasized the need for active cooperation from all departments and educational institutions to ensure successful conduct of the Self-Enumeration phase. He directed the concerned officers to undertake widespread publicity at their respective levels and encourage citizens to participate actively in the process.

He further stressed that awareness campaigns should be intensified at the grassroots level so that people are fully informed about the process and benefits of Self-Enumeration, thereby ensuring smooth and effective implementation across the district.

The officers assured full cooperation to the district administration for the successful conduct of Census activities in Kathua district.
