KATHUA, DECEMBER 29: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kathua, Rajesh Sharma today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of works being executed under the District Capex Budget and Capex Development Scheme (CDS) in the district.

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Ranjeet Thakur; Additional Commissioner Development, Akhil Sadotra, senior functionaries from Public Works Department (PWD), Public Health Engineering (PHE), Power Development Department (PDD), Rural Development Department (RDD), Health, Irrigation, Ground Water, Social Forestry and Youth Services and Sports.

The Deputy Commissioner took stock of the physical and financial progress of ongoing and completed works. He directed the concerned departments to clear the financial liabilities of all completed works, strictly in accordance with the prescribed financial norms.

The Deputy Commissioner impressed upon all executing agencies to put in concerted efforts to adhere to the prescribed timelines. “As per government guidelines, a 30 percent budget cut is scheduled on December 31, 2025, so at least 70 percent of the works earmarked for the current fiscal need to be completed well before the cut-off date to avoid any loss of funds,” he directed.

Further, stress was laid on close monitoring, inter-departmental coordination and regular field inspections to ensure quality execution and optimum utilisation of public funds.
