`KUPWARA, AUGUST 08: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to finalize preparations for the successful conduct of the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign across the district, with emphasis on ensuring maximum public participation from all sections of society, particularly students and youth.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, an initiative of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was launched as part of the 75th anniversary of India’s independence under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and has since evolved into an annual nationwide movement encouraging citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes. The campaign is aimed at invoking a sense of patriotism among citizens and strengthening their personal connect with the Tiranga.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed the proposed activities and directed all concerned departments to ensure enthusiastic participation of students, youth and the general public through schools, colleges, ITIs and other institutions across the district.
The meeting discussed the organization of Tiranga rallies, walkathons and Tiranga Yatras across all blocks, including rallies featuring long Tiranga fabric, aimed at generating greater public participation and reinforcing the spirit of patriotism, national unity and the vision of a Viksit Bharat @2047.
The DC stressed the need to ensure flag-hoisting ceremonies along with Tiranga-themed illumination and decoration at government buildings and offices, educational institutions, hotels, dams, bridges, airports, railway stations, bus stands and other prominent public places across the district.
The meeting also reviewed plans for Tiranga-inspired art and decoration of school walls and display boards, besides organizing Tiranga exhibitions and mass singing of the national song, Vande Mataram.
As part of the campaign, citizens will be encouraged to participate in the “Selfie with Tiranga” initiative and upload their photographs on the official Har Ghar Tiranga website, showcasing their participation in the nationwide movement.
To create a vibrant patriotic atmosphere throughout the campaign period, Tiranga-themed illumination and decoration will also be undertaken at local markets and prominent public places across the district.
To facilitate wider participation, arrangements will be made for the sale and distribution of National Flags through Self Help Groups (SHGs) across the district, ensuring easy availability of flags to citizens.
The DC called upon all concerned officers to ensure effective inter-departmental coordination, proper planning and timely execution of all activities so that the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign is conducted successfully with maximum public participation across Kupwara district. He emphasized that the campaign should not remain limited to ceremonial activities but should serve as a platform to foster patriotism, unity and collective pride in the National Flag among citizens, particularly the younger generation.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) DAR, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy SP) Handwara, and other concerned officers.
