POONCH, JULY 23: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal chaired a meeting of the District Sanitation Committee today to review the implementation of projects under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen).

The review meeting focused on creation of sanitation assets including composite pits, community soakage pits, community sanitary complexes, DEWATs (Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Systems), WASPs (Waste to Wealth Plants), FSTPs (Fecal Sludge Treatment Plants), PWMUs (Panchayat Water Management Units), segregation sheds, and Gobardhan plants.

The DC assessed the status of ongoing works and laid out clear directions for expediting all phases—ranging from land identification and tendering to work allotment and execution. He stressed the urgency of timely completion to cater to the sanitation needs of rural areas.

The Assistant Commissioner Panchayat presented a comprehensive block-wise report outlining achievements as well as bottlenecks affecting progress.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Assistant Commissioner Revenue and all Tehsildars to immediately identify suitable land for the projects within their respective jurisdictions. He also directed the concerned officers to fast-track the tendering process and remove procedural delays.

The meeting was attended by the Programme Officer Poshan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti and Irrigation & Flood Control, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, all Tehsildars, District Information Officer, Block Development Officers (BDOs) and other concerned officials.
