UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 16: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, convened a meeting of officers from various line departments to review the implementation of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district.
The meeting was attended by IAS Probationer Swati Sheemar; Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh; Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan; Chief Planning Officer Mohammad Iqbal; Assistant Commissioner Development Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal and other officers.
At the outset, the Executive Engineer JPDCL delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the progress and objectives of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. He highlighted that the scheme aims to enhance the share of rooftop solar capacity and empower residential households to generate their own electricity with substantial financial support from the government. He informed that 518 applications have been received so far in the district under this initiative.
The DC took a comprehensive review of the progress made in installing rooftop solar systems across all electrical divisions in the district. She underlined the numerous benefits of the initiative and urged JPDCL officials to intensify their efforts in raising awareness among the public about the advantages of installing rooftop solar plants. She emphasized the need for launching a mass outreach campaign to sensitize public about the scheme and its financial and environmental benefits. The DC also instructed officials to submit daily progress reports on installations and related activities.
In addition, the DC reviewed the status of registrations on the JK Samadhan Portal and directed all officers to expedite the registration process.
