SRINAGAR MAY 18:- Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo today chaired a meeting in his Office Chamber to review the progress on establishment of new fire stations in the District and upgradation of fire safety infrastructure across the City.
The meeting also took stock of identification and transfer of land for proposed new fire stations at various strategic locations to ensure improved response time and wider coverage of fire and emergency services in Srinagar.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aadil Fareed, IAS Probationer, Alfred Thomas, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Umar Gulzar, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services, Auqib Ahmad and other concerned.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on strengthening the overall emergency response system, augmenting existing fire and rescue infrastructure and addressing gaps in service coverage, particularly in congested localities in Shahr-e-Khaas and densely populated areas of the City.
On the occasion, the DC emphasized the need for expediting the identification and transfer of suitable land for new fire stations so that critical infrastructure projects are taken up immediately. He directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination to place intend for the land and ensure timely completion of preparatory formalities.
He further stressed that strengthening fire and emergency services is a key priority for safeguarding lives and property, especially in view of increasing urbanization and infrastructure growth in the City. He called for a time-bound and result-oriented approach in implementing all ongoing and proposed works related to fire safety upgradation for enhancing operational readiness for ensuring quick and effective response during emergencies to safeguard human lives and properties.
