DC Udhampur reviews implementation of TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan

UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 18: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Saloni Rai today chaired a meeting with officers of the Health Department to review the status of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan with a focus on accelerating efforts towards eliminating the disease from the District.

She also presided over a meeting of the District TB Co-morbidity coordination Committee.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh; PO Poshan Subash Dogra and other officers of the Health Department.

At the outset, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anil Manhas presented a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation, highlighting the district’s performance with regard to the TB elimination programme.

The DC also reviewed the implementation of the Ni-Kshay Mitra initiative, launched under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, which aims to provide additional support to TB patients and improve treatment outcomes.

The DC reviewed the status of NAAT and X-ray testing, treatment success rate and Ni-Kshay Mitra registrations, while directing the concerned authorities to increase TB testing and strengthen diagnostic facilities. She emphasized the importance of enhanced counseling to ensure early detection and timely treatment of TB cases.

The DC called for intensified awareness campaigns, increased testing and collective efforts to achieve the goal of TB eradication. She directed concerned to work in close coordination to achieve 100% screening coverage by October 2025.

The Health Department was asked to prioritize outreach to vulnerable and underserved populations, especially those residing in remote areas. She directed officials to map vulnerable groups, strengthen diagnostic and treatment services and promote early detection through focused screening and testing drives.

The District Tuberculosis Officer was instructed to organize dedicated health camps and conduct intensified awareness drives across the district to identify and treat TB patients promptly. She also urged the general public to voluntarily register as Ni-Kshay Mitras to support TB patients and contribute to this national mission of creating a TB-free India.
