RAJOURI, DECEMBER 23: District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), today launched a major cleanliness drive along the Darhali River near Abdullah Bridge and Jullah Bridge as part of the ongoing Mission Clean Rajouri.

District Development Commissioner, Abhishek Sharma presided over the event and led the drive from the front by actively participating in the cleaning operation. His hands-on involvement, including stepping into the Darhali River during the month of December, sent a strong message that Mission Clean Rajouri is about concrete action rather than symbolism. The DDC also interacted with participants and boosted their morale during the drive.

Addressing media persons and participants, the DDC said that cleanliness is a collective responsibility and appealed to the general public, especially local shopkeepers and residents, to extend full cooperation in maintaining cleanliness in the town. He emphasized strict segregation of dry and wet waste at the source and urged citizens to refrain from dumping garbage into drains and water bodies.

DDC further stressed the importance of protecting natural resources and specifically called for keeping the Darhali River and other water bodies clean. He informed that protective mesh will be installed on both sides of Abdullah Bridge and Jullah Bridge to prevent direct throwing of garbage into the river.

The cleanliness campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from prominent members of civil society, NSS volunteers from BGSBU and PG College Rajouri, youth clubs and students reflecting strong community support for the initiative. The general public lauded the efforts of the District Administration for taking visible and impactful steps towards environmental cleanliness.

The District Administration reiterated that the cleanliness drive along the Darhali River will continue in the coming days, with sustained efforts to ensure a cleaner, healthier and more environmentally responsible Rajouri.
Senior officers including SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar, ACD Aqil Naveed, DFO Naveed Mughal, EO Municipality Yousaf-ul-Umar, along with academicians Prof Parvez Abdullah, Prof Parvez Alam, Prof Mohd Hanan from BGSBU, Prof Khaleeq Ahmed from GDC Rajouri and other district and sectoral officers were also present and actively participated in the drive.
