REASI, MAY 16: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Nidhi Malik, convened a comprehensive review meeting with officers of the Education Department today to assess the overall functioning of the education sector in the district. The meeting focused on critical areas such as staff strength, school infrastructure, vocational education, student enrollment, and fund utilization.

The DDC asked the School heads and Heads of Departments (HODs) to work actively to identify and enroll out-of-school children to bring all of them into the formal education system by the end of the year. She also stressed the importance of opening bank accounts of students for scholarship disbursement and directed the department to coordinate with Tehsildars to expedite the process by helping students to obtain necessary documents.

Reviewing the academic performance for the 2024–25 session, DDC Malik observed that there is significant scope for improvement. She urged school principals to implement effective strategies to enhance academic outcomes and encouraged teachers to take active responsibility for ensuring quality education for every student.

To address the needs of students with disabilities, she instructed the Education Department to collaborate with the District Social Welfare Officer to provide mobility aids, such as wheelchairs, and to organize special motivation and support camps to promote inclusive education.

Emphasizing sustainable infrastructure, the DDC directed the installation of solar energy systems in schools. She also asked the school heads to prepare PowerPoint presentations showcasing their schools’ infrastructure, academic performance, and fund utilization. Additionally, she instructed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) to organise exposure visits for students outside the district to broaden their learning experiences.

Regarding PM SHRI Schools, the DDC expressed satisfaction over the adequacy of infrastructure and expected commendable academic outcomes this year. She called upon all stakeholders to remain committed to the holistic development and success of students.

Further, DDC Malik strictly prohibited the burning of waste within school premises and urged all institutions to adopt environmentally sustainable practices.
