SAMBA, FEBRUARY 25: District Magistrate Samba Rajesh Sharma issued an order here today, directing license holders possessing more than 2 firearms to deposit additional firearm(s) as provisioned under Arms (Amendment) Act, 2019.
“Since possessing three firearms is not permitted under the law, all firearm license holders in Samba district who possess more than two firearms must strictly comply with the directions within one month from the issuance of this order. Failing to do so will result in action as warranted under the provisions of the Arms Act” the order issued by DM stated.
As per Section 3(2) of the Arms Act, 1959 (as amended by the Arms (Amendment) Act, 2019), no person, except those covered under sub-section (3), is allowed to acquire, possess, or carry more than two firearms at any time, it stated further.
