POONCH, SEPTEMBER 19: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today addressed an Ex-Servicemen Darbar organised by the Indian Army at Surankote with an aim to address the grievances of Ex-Servicemen related to local administration and to further strengthen civil-military cooperation.

The Darbar was hosted by 16 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sector Rashtriya Rifles and Headquarters Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo).

The event was attended by Brigadier H S Dhillon, Commander 6 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Mohd Farooq, SDM Surankote along with civil administration and officials from Power, Agriculture, Horticulture, Revenue, Social Welfare and Zila Sainik Welfare Departments.

During the Darbar, a fruitful and constructive interaction was held between the Deputy Commissioner, civil administration officials and the Ex-Servicemen. Various issues and problems being faced by Ex-Servicemen pertaining to pension documentation, land records, power and water supply, benefits under agriculture and horticulture schemes and social welfare schemes for Ex-Servicemen and their families were discussed in detail.

The Deputy Commissioner gave a patient hearing to all grievances and assured prompt and time-bound redressal. He directed the concerned departmental representatives present on the occasion to provide on-the-spot assistance and to extend all possible support for welfare of Ex-Servicemen.

The Ex-Servicemen expressed sincere gratitude to the Indian Army and district administration for providing a common platform to voice their concerns and for their continued commitment towards their welfare.

The Darbar witnessed enthusiastic participation of 241 Ex-Servicemen from Surankote and adjoining areas. The event concluded on a positive and cordial note, further strengthening the bond of trust and cooperation between the Awam, Ex-Servicemen and the Jawan.
