UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 20: The Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, inaugurated a two-day photo exhibition on Nasha Mukt Bharat and the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Government Higher Secondary School, Tikri. The exhibition aims to take government flagship schemes to the people. The event was organized by the Field Office, Udhampur, of the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. It aims to educate citizens and make them aware of the menace of drug addiction and the importance of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.
During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the photo exhibition. To mark the commitment to a green India, the organizers from the Central Bureau of Communication presented saplings to the Deputy Commissioner and to the Principal of the Government Higher Secondary School, Tikri, Monika Karlupia.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said the exhibition focuses on Nasha Mukt Bharat and the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita. He lauded the Central Bureau of Communication for taking this information directly to the people. He said drug addiction damages not only the individual but also affects families socially, emotionally and economically.
The In-charge of the Central Bureau of Communication Field Office, Udhampur, Gurnam Singh, delivered the welcome address. He gave a brief overview of the department’s role, stating that the Central Bureau of Communication acts as a vital bridge between policy-makers and the people at the grassroots.
The Principal, Monika Karlupia, spoke on the ill effects of drug addiction and welcomed the replacement of the old laws with the three new criminal laws. She thanked the Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, for selecting the school for the programme.
The session featured an expert lecture on the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita by Advocate Nikhileshwar Singh. He spoke in detail on the three new criminal laws and said they are easily accessible to everyone through digital tools such as e-FIR and Zero FIR.
Police Sub-Inspector Mohit Sharma delivered the keynote address as a resource person on Nasha Mukt Bharat.
He said public participation in awareness initiatives, counselling of addicts and rehabilitation would play a key role in curbing drug addiction in society. He urged the youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle and take part in sports to stay away from such practices.
Other features of the first day’s programme included a painting competition on Nasha Mukt Bharat, theme-based songs by empanelled artists of the Central Bureau of Communication, a skit by the students of the Government Middle School, Bassani and an open quiz on Nasha Mukt Bharat and the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.
