Srinagar: The Director General (DG) Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat Tuesday reviewed the preparedness for celebration of ‘Spring Blossom Festival-2022’ at Centre of Excellence (CEO) Zawoora, Khanmouh on 21st March.
During the meeting, the DG informed that the said festival shall continue for one month and is first of its kind initiative of the department to promote Horti-tourism. He added that the main attraction of the programme shall be the exhibition of different fruits, plants of elite quality, High density technology, Horticulture machinery and cultural programmes etc.
Visitors will also get a chance to visit the centre and witness the beautiful blooming season of different fruit crops. He further urged upon all the stakeholders of the event to put in all the efforts to make this event a big success.
The DG on the occasion urged the general public particularly students to participate in the event and get themselves refreshed.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director (Central), Chief Horticulture Officers, Chief Canning Instructor, Farm Manager ACHD, Rajbagh&Zainpora, Horticulture Information Officer and other horticulture stakeholders.
Dir Agriculture (K) visits Bla distt, Inaugurates seedling distribution drive at SMF Tapper
Srinagar: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal Tuesday visited different areas of Baramulla district and inaugurated distribution of different seedlings at Seed Multiplication Farm (SMF) Tapper, Pattan.
The Director interacted with the huge gathering of farmers at the inauguration venue and said that the Department in its endeavor to ensure round the year availability of vegetable seedlings to the farming community of the region has been successful to a great extent.
“Our target is to distribute 2.5 crore seedlings of different vegetable crops among the farmers of Kashmir Division this year”, he added.
Iqbal said that the Departmental farms and other seedlings production installations are working vigorously to achieve this target in a stipulated time frame.
Earlier, Manager SMF Pattan, CharanGurdev Singh briefed the Director about the latest interventions that have been carried out by the Department under the supervision of concerned technical experts at SMF Tapper. He assured the visiting dignitaries of achieving the already set targets vis-à-vis production and distribution of different vegetable crop seedlings.
Later, the Director inspected sub-divisional agriculture office Pattan and took stock of the functioning of the department in the sub division.
He also participated in a mega awareness camp at Fruit Mandi, Sopore.
The Director was accompanied by Deputy Director Agriculture Planning, Seed Production Officer Kashmir and some senior officers of the Department.
