JAMMU, APRIL 17: The Director Horticulture Jammu Gul Syed accompanied by Assistant Director Sunil Gupta on Friday inspected the work performance and ongoing activities at Modern Processing-cum-Training Centre- Udheywalla.
The Director inspected the facilities, assessed the functioning of the centre and emphasized the importance of value addition, skill development and efficient utilization of infrastructure for the benefit of farmers and stakeholders.
The Director also visited the Government Fruit Plant Nursery (GFPN)-Gandharwan Akhnoor, where he reviewed nursery operations, plant quality and propagation practices.
During the tour, the Director also visited a dragon fruit orchard, where he interacted with farmers and reviewed the cultivation practices, growth performance and potential of dragon fruit as a high-value crop in the region. He encouraged farmers to adopt innovative and diversified horticulture practices for better income generation.
Later, the Director visited the Government Fruit Plants Nursery at Pouni – Reasi. He was accompanied by the Chief Horticulture Officer and other officers and officials. He took stock of the nursery activities and stressed the need for maintaining high standards in plant production and ensuring the availability of quality planting material to farmers.
The Director issued necessary directions to the concerned officers for improving efficiency, enhancing productivity and adopting modern horticulture practices across all units.
