KATHUA, MARCH 6: As part of the ongoing Women Week campaign and in line with the district’s Youth Engagement and Empowerment Plan, the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) District Centre Kathua today organised a symposium on the theme “Women Empowerment” here at Learning Temple High School.
District Education Planning Officer Anjana Manyal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Monika Gupta, Madhavi Gupta and Advocate Mishi Khanam were the Guests of Honour.
Five students of the school participated in the symposium competition and shared their views on the importance of women empowerment and gender equality. Nancy Kangotra secured the first position, while Pankita Mahajan and Hasvika Sharma secured the second and third positions respectively.
A short film titled “Women in Energy”, highlighting the achievements and contributions of women in various fields was also screened for the students.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest encouraged parents, particularly mothers, to support the aspirations of their daughters and provide them with opportunities to pursue their dreams and ambitions. She emphasized that empowering girls through education and encouragement is essential for building a progressive and inclusive society.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Monika Gupta highlighted the significance of women’s determination and self-belief, stating that a woman’s success is driven by her own strength, resilience and commitment towards achieving her goals.
Earlier, Principal Pallavi Hans and Chairman Naresh Kumar welcomed the guests and appreciated the initiative for engaging youth and students in meaningful discussions on women’s empowerment.
The programme concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates among the winners and participants.
