REASI, MARCH 25: Director Social Welfare Department Jammu Rupesh Kumar today visited several offices and institutions of the Social Welfare Department in Reasi to review the execution of welfare initiatives and assess their impact on the community. The visit aimed to ensure the effective implementation of the department’s programs and services for vulnerable groups in the region.

Upon arrival, the Director was warmly welcomed by District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Sachin Sharma. During the visit to the District Social Welfare Office, the Director was given an overview of the department’s activities. He interacted with the office staff, appreciating their hard work and dedication. He encouraged them to continue their efforts and emphasized that no beneficiary should be left out of the services and benefits offered by the Social Welfare Department.

The Director’s tour continued with a visit to several key institutions, starting with Parisha Girls Home where he interacted with the staff and ensured that the basic needs of the children were being met. He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to improve the living conditions and care for children in institutional settings, stressing the importance of their well-being and future prospects.

At the Tehsil Social Welfare Office Reasi, the Director inspected the newly revived Craft Center. He spoke with the trainees and encouraged the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to improve the marketing and sale of their products. He also proposed the establishment of similar craft centers in other parts of Reasi to cater to the growing demand from local communities.

The Director’s visit concluded with stops at the Aashiyana Senior Citizens Home and the proposed Garima Greh (Transgender Home). At Aashiyana, the Director engaged with the senior residents and directed officials to ensure they received all necessary amenities and regular medical checkups. At the Garima Greh location, he interacted with transgender residents and instructed the NGO involved to ensure their medical checkups and the creation of Transgender ID cards. Mr. Kumar also reviewed infrastructure projects under the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) to assess their progress and ensure the continued development of rural areas.
