District Admin Bandipora reviews JJM Works, Jal Mahotsav Pakhwada Activities

BANDIPORA, MARCH 12: On the directions of District Development Commissioner Bandipora, the Chief Planning Officer Bandipora, Mohammad Maqbool Lone today chaired a meeting to review the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works in the district in view of the ongoing Jal Mahotsav Pakhwada being observed from March 8 to March 22, 2026.

During the meeting, officers discussed the schedule of activities being organized under the 14-day celebration programme and stressed the need for coordination among departments for effective implementation.

It was informed that the Jal Mahotsav Pakhwada commenced on March 8 with the celebration of International Women’s Day, where women participants were sensitized about water governance and water quality monitoring through Field Testing Kit (FTK) demonstrations.

As part of the programme, water quality testing and awareness activities are being conducted in High and Higher Secondary Schools across the district. World Plumbers Day was also observed on March 11 at ITIs, where plumbers and technical staff were trained on plumbing works and maintenance of water supply infrastructure.

The meeting was informed that Jal Arpan Diwas will be celebrated on March 13 to promote significance of water supply schemes, while a Jal Yatra on March 14 will focus on awareness about water supply infrastructure.

Further activities including school awareness campaigns, cleanliness drives of water sources and water infrastructure will be conducted during the pakhwada, which will culminate on March 22 with the celebration of World Water Day at the district level and across Panchayats.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Bandipora, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Bandipora, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti Bandipora, District Information Officer Bandipora, AEEs, AEs, JEs, and other concerned officers.
