KUPWARA, OCTOBER 02: On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, District Administration Kupwara organised Special Maha Gram Sabhas across all Panchayats of the district under Reform Utsav and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign.
Special Gram Sabhas were held across Blocks including Teetwal, Tangdar, Vilgam, Drugmulla, Kupwara, Karnah and others. At Panchayats Dildar-A, Dildar-B, Hajinar in Block Tangdar, Bramri-B in Block Drugmulla and other panchayats of Block Teetwal and Vilgam, senior citizens, field functionaries of line departments and locals participated actively.
During the Gram Sabhas, participants were sensitised about various Government welfare schemes, Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2026, importance of waste segregation at source and new provisions under VB-G RAM G. The ideals and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi were also highlighted.
Swachhata Pledge was administered at all venues with a resolve to keep villages clean, green and garbage-free.
Meanwhile, a district-level function was also organised at Town Hall Kupwara by Municipal Council Kupwara. Officials and staff paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, took Swachhata Pledge and felicitated Swachhata workers for their contribution.
The programme was aimed at strengthening grassroots democracy, promoting cleanliness and ensuring saturation of government schemes at village level.
