ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 01: The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Anantnag, in collaboration with the District Administration and the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, today organised a district-level cyclothon under the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, healthy lifestyle and drug-free society.
The cyclothon was flagged off by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag, Vikas Ahlawat, from Sarnal Dhadat on KP Road and culminated at Sports Stadium, Mattan. A total of 1,068 participants took part in the district-level activities.
The event aimed to spread the message of Swachhata Hi Seva across the district by encouraging people to adopt responsible waste-management practices, maintain hygienic surroundings and contribute towards a cleaner and greener environment. It also highlighted the role of youth in promoting community participation and environmental protection.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC emphasised the importance of cycling, sports and regular physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He also urged the youth to stay away from drug abuse and contribute towards building a healthy and drug-free society.
The event was attended by officers and field functionaries from the Youth Services & Sports, Rural Development, J&K Police and Health Departments, besides students and youth.
The cyclothon concluded with a renewed commitment to translate the message of Swachhata Hi Seva into collective action, encouraging citizens, particularly the youth, to take ownership of cleanliness and environmental protection. The initiative underscored the importance of sustained public participation in building a cleaner, greener and healthier Anantnag, while reinforcing the resolve to promote a fit, responsible and drug-free society.
