JAMMU, MARCH 12: The Department of Floriculture, Parks and Gardens, Jammu today organized a District Level Event on Commercial Floriculture at KVK R.S. Pura aimed at promoting modern floriculture practices and encouraging farmers to adopt commercial flower cultivation to increase farm income.
Director Horticulture Jammu, Gul Sayeed was the chief guest, who appreciated the efforts of the Floriculture Department in promoting commercial floriculture and creating awareness among farmers regarding high-value flower crops. “Floriculture offers immense potential for income generation and diversification of agriculture in the region,” he emphasized.
Among the others present included Former Director Floriculture, Ashok Gupta and Former Project Director ATMA, Ashok Kumar, who shared their experiences and highlighted the growing opportunities in the floriculture sector.
The resource persons included Dr. Sheetal Dogra, Professor, SKUAST-J, Chatha, Jammu and Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Associate Professor, Floriculture Division, SKUAST-J, Chatha, Jammu.
A large number of farmers from different parts of Jammu district attended the programme and actively interacted with experts. The farmers received valuable guidance on modern cultivation techniques, pest and disease management, market opportunities and government support schemes related to floriculture.
The event concluded with a strong message encouraging farmers to adopt commercial floriculture as a high-value and sustainable farming enterprise, which can significantly enhance farmers’ income and contribute to the agricultural economy of the region.
