BARAMULLA, FEBRUARY 24: In a significant step towards combating substance abuse, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Zahoor Ahmad Raina presided over a one-day training programme on “Drug De-addiction” for Master Volunteers of the district under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA).

The programme was organized by the State Level Coordinating Agency J&K in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India and the District Administration Baramulla, aimed to equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive anti-drug initiatives at the grassroots level.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC emphasized the critical role of community-driven efforts in addressing drug addiction and rehabilitation. He highlighted the importance of awareness, early intervention, and the collective responsibility of society in curbing the menace of substance abuse.

Experts and trainers from various organizations conducted sessions on prevention strategies, counseling techniques, and support mechanisms available for individuals struggling with addiction. The volunteers were urged to actively engage with communities and assist in the implementation of de-addiction programs.

Certificates were distributed to master volunteers at the conclusion of the one-day Drug De-addiction training in Baramulla, recognizing their commitment to the fight against substance abuse.
