JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 29: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting to review preparations for the nationwide ‘Reform Utsav’ campaign in Jammu Division, scheduled to be launched on October 2.
Spearheaded by the Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India, the three-month campaign, being held from October to December 2026, aims to showcase transformative governance reforms, citizen-centric initiatives and developmental achievements.
The Divisional Commissioner informed that the Rural Development Department will serve as the nodal agency for the campaign, under which Gram Sabhas will be conducted across the Division. These Gram Sabhas will provide citizens an opportunity to learn about major reforms, understand their impact and identify local development priorities.
He directed the Deputy Commissioners to nominate nodal officers in their respective districts for effective coordination and implementation of the campaign.
The Div Com stressed the need to generate widespread awareness about the scope, benefits and improved delivery mechanisms of various government schemes and initiatives being implemented by the Departments of Social Welfare, Rural Development, Agriculture, Employment, Revenue and other sectors.
He particularly emphasised disseminating information regarding the digitisation of revenue records, besides highlighting activities and achievements under the Swachh Bharat Mission, PMAY, Vibrant Villages Programme and Smart City projects.
The Div Com also directed that the public be adequately sensitised about the recently enacted Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and the key provisions and reforms introduced under them.
He further called for prominent projection of livelihood and employment-oriented initiatives under NRLM and Mission YUVA, with a focus on their benefits and accessibility for citizens.
The Div Com directed the concerned officers to ensure timely distribution and dissemination of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material across all districts. He also issued directions regarding the conduct of events and activities and coordinated media publicity to maximise the outreach of the campaign.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Jammu Division and heads of various departments.
