BARAMULLA, MARCH 08: To mark International Women’s Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Baramulla, led by Chairman DLSA Baramulla, Jawad Ahmad, organized an awareness program at Elite Institute, Baramulla.

The event focused on empowering women by promoting gender equality and informing them about their legal rights.

The program brought together panel lawyers, students, women from various backgrounds, para-legal volunteers, and other stakeholders.

Several speakers included Panel Lawyer, Sibtain Geelani; Ishfaq Ahmad (Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel); Rukaya (Assistant LADC) and Advocate Nausheen, who addressed issues related to women’s legal rights, protection from violence, and gender equality.

Sibtain Geelani highlighted the challenges women face and underscored the importance of collective efforts to create a more equitable society. Ishfaq Ahmad outlined various legal aid schemes under the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) that provide free legal support to women.

Rukaya emphasized the legal protections available to women, particularly against violence, while Advocate Nausheen offered perspectives on gender equality from both legal and religious viewpoints.

The program reinforced DLSA Baramulla’s commitment to empowering women and ensuring equal access to justice through continued legal aid and outreach efforts.
