BUDGAM, FEBRUARY 21: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam, under the aegis of the Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority (JKLSA), organized an Awareness Programme on NALSA (Legal Services to Victims of Acid Attack) Scheme, 2016 today at ADR Budgam.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness amongsts the participants about the provisions of the NALSA Scheme, 2016, and to sensitize the public regarding the rights, entitlements, and free legal aid available to victims of acid attacks. The programme also aimed to highlight the role of legal services institutions in ensuring access to justice, rehabilitation support, and compensation for survivors.
Speaking on the occasion, Nazir Ahmad Wagay, Deputy LADC, elaborated on the salient features of the NALSA Scheme, 2016. He highlighted the Legal safeguards available to victims, including free legal aid, immediate medical assistance, compensation, rehabilitation measures, and psychological support.
He emphasized that acid attack survivors are entitled to dignified treatment and speedy justice, and that the Legal Services Authorities are committed to extending all necessary assistance to ensure their effective rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
The event witnessed participation, PLVs, litigants, and members of the general public, who were informed about the procedure for seeking legal assistance and the importance of timely intervention in such cases.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, wherein participants raised queries and were provided clarifications regarding the Scheme and related legal remedies.
