SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 10: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian today commemorated World Human Rights Day with a comprehensive awareness program at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Batapora.
Organized under the direction of, Chairman of DLSA Shopian, Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhury and under the guidance and supervision of Secretary, DLSA Shopian, Mudasar Farooq, the program was attended by legal experts, support service providers and the community.
Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel (LADC), Rafie Ahmad Ganie, deliberated upon the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and its critical evolution into contemporary international law.
Assistant LADCs, elucidated the practical pathways to justice, detailing the free legal services and aid mechanisms available to citizens, especially marginalized groups, through the DLSA. They also elaborated the constitutional rights and safeguards that form the bedrock of justice and equality in India.
Administrator of the One Stop Centre, Shopian, focused on women’s rights, highlighting specific legal protections, support systems and remedies available, with dedicated attention to women with disabilities.
The event witnessed active participation from a large gathering of students and Para-Legal Volunteers, with engaging discussions effectively linking international human rights doctrines, India’s constitutional guarantees and the practical legal services available to the public.
The program concluded on a strong note of collective resolve to advance the rights and dignity of all, underscoring the themes of disability inclusion and gender justice.
