SRINAGAR, APRIL 07: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar in collaboration with School Education Department today organized an awareness programme at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Nawakadal under the guidance of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman DLSA (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge), Srinagar and overall supervision of Secretary DLSA, Srinagar to mark the celebration of World Health Day.

The programme focused on promoting health awareness, prevention of drug abuse, and sensitizing students about anti-ragging laws and available complaint mechanisms.

The event witnessed active participation from students, faculty members, and staff of the institution.
On the occasion, Tasneem Kausar, Deputy Legal Aid Defense Counsel (LADC), delivered a detailed lecture on the growing menace of drug abuse, its harmful effects on physical and mental health, and the legal consequences associated with drug-related offences. Students were encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle and stay away from substance abuse.

Further, Ayesha Showkat, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel, highlighted the provisions of anti-ragging laws, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment within educational institutions.

The students were sensitized about various complaint mechanisms, including helplines and institutional committees, through which incidents of ragging can be reported confidentially.

The speakers also stressed the role of youth in building a healthy and drug-free society and urged students to act as ambassadors of awareness within their communities.

The programme concluded with an interactive session, where students actively engaged with the resource persons and clarified their doubts regarding legal provisions and health-related issues. The initiative was part of DLSA Srinagar’s continued efforts to spread legal awareness and promote social responsibility among the youth.
