BANDIPORA, SEPTEMBER 26: District Magistrate (DM) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, along with Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora, Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, today chaired a District Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) meeting at the Mini Secretariat Office, Bandipora, to review NDPS cases and progress under various anti-drug measures.
The meeting reviewed the roadmap, targets and progress achieved under enforcement, prosecution, prevention, awareness and rehabilitation measures. Discussions focused on dismantling identified district-level drug cartels, effective use of databases, financial investigation in commercial quantity cases, freezing and attachment of assets, effective prosecution and action against vehicles, driving licences and other assets linked to drug-related cases.
The meeting reviewed FIRs registered, action against financial assets of drug dealers, CCTV installation in hotspot areas and measures to prevent illicit cultivation.
The Assistant Drug Controller apprised the meeting about inspections, CCTV and computerised billing systems at medical shops, notices served, licences suspended, awareness camps and inspections of courier service providers.
The Excise Range Bandipora presented its progress on destruction of wild cannabis and poppy cultivation, surveys, awareness activities and Friday sermons.
The meeting also reviewed implementation of COTPA Act, 2003 and Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, including challans and fines, besides initiatives such as Maa Se Guft-a-Gu and Dosti Discussions. The functioning of de-addiction and addiction treatment facilities, drug-free campus initiatives, sports activities in vulnerable areas and specialised training for police officers were also discussed.
The DM directed all concerned departments to intensify enforcement and preventive measures, strengthen prosecution and rehabilitation, expand awareness activities and maintain close inter-departmental coordination to effectively curb drug abuse, illicit cultivation and narcotic trafficking in the district.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl; Deputy Director Prosecution, Chief Medical Officer; Medical Superintendent, DH Bandipora; Assistant Regional Transport Officer; District Information Officer; Assistant Drugs Controller; Medical Officer, Addiction Treatment Facility; and other concerned officers.
