Budgam, Sep 25 : An elderly couple, one in his 90s and the other in her 70s, captured attention at the Khansahib Constituency on Wednesday as they arrived at Polling Station 80 to cast their votes. Due to their age, they used wheelchairs to reach the polling booth.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Azzi, a woman in her 70s, said she voted to address issues like poverty, youth unemployment and unreliable electricity supply.

“I have been voting since I was young, but this time it is different. I want to see poverty eradicated and ensure our youngsters find jobs,” she said, adding that the rising electricity fees without adequate service have made people’s lives difficult. “I hope the new government will address these issues,” she added.

The man in his 90s said he had never wasted his vote. He urged young people to follow his example, saying, “If I can make it to the polling station, so can they. Voting is necessary for change and development.”

He called for improved governance and greater youth participation in the electoral process
