BUDGAM, AUGUST 07: Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) Budgam today conducted a road safety enforcement drive on various routes leading to Doodhpathri to ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act.
The drive, led by ARTO Budgam, Sheikh Manzoor Ahmad, targeted two-wheelers and commercial vehicles, with a special focus on vehicles operating without functional Speed Limiting Devices (SLDs) and other traffic violations.
During the drive, 20 on-the-spot challans amounting to an expected Rs 65,000 were issued for offences including riding without helmets, triple riding and operating commercial vehicles without functional SLDs. The team also recommended the suspension of five driving licences and 15 Registration Certificates (RCs) of commercial vehicles found with tampered Speed Limiting Devices.
The enforcement team also inspected dealers dealing in new and second-hand vehicles to verify compliance with statutory provisions and directed them to ensure all legal formalities are fulfilled before the sale of vehicles.
ARTO Budgam said such enforcement drives will continue across the district to enhance road safety and ensure strict adherence to transport laws.
