ANANTNAG, DECEMBER 11: In an initiative aimed at promoting biodiversity and preserving the rich heritage of medicinal plants, the J&K Forest Department is set to establish a ‘Vanaspati Van’ (Medicinal Plant Park) in South Kashmir.

The DFO Planning and Publicity Division stated that the establishment of the Vanaspati Van in South Kashmir will not only enhance the conservation of our native medicinal species but also serve as an educational hub for the community.

He further said, “By nurturing these invaluable plants, we are ensuring that future generations can benefit from their medicinal properties while fostering a deeper appreciation for our natural heritage.”

During the inspection of ongoing works in the Ahlan Gadole and Pathribal areas under the jurisdiction of the Planning and Publicity Division, the concerned Range Officer and Foresters were directed to expedite the pace of works and ensure the maintenance of proper Nursery and Plantation Journals to uphold transparency and accuracy in record-keeping.

The DFO emphasized the importance of timely execution and quality maintenance of all activities to achieve the desired outcomes under the planned objectives of the division.
