BANDIPORA: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmed, a market checking squad of the enforcement wing of Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Wednesday realized a fine of Rs 2500 from erring shopkeepers during a market checking held, here.
Taking strong note of the complaints of over-pricing during the holy month, the district administration launched a massive district-wide inspection drive to curb over-pricing and take immediate action against instances of violations.
The teams conducted inspection of various business establishments including vegetable, fruit sellers, Meat Shops, Kiryana, Bakery, hotels and other vendors at different markets of Bandipora, Sumbal, Hajin, Aloosa and Ashtingoo.
On the occasion, Officers stressed on the traders to desist from over-pricing and other illegal and unethical practices and urged them to follow the rules in letter and spirit. They also asked the vendors to follow the packaged commodity rules and other Metrology Acts.
They said that the drive will continue on a regular basis across all district markets to keep a check on traders and shopkeepers for indulging in overcharging and other unethical activities.
