ANANTNAG, JULY 31: In order to honour the outstanding achievements of meritorious students from class 9th to 12th, NEET qualifiers, young innovators, budding writers, and sportspersons, a grand felicitation ceremony was today organised at Government Model Higher Secondary School Dooru Shahabad.

The event showcased the academic, creative and athletic excellence of the student community.
Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dooru Shahabad, Ghulam Ahmad Mir was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking at the event, Mir lauded the achievements of the students and congratulated the school staff for their dedication and efforts. He said that Dooru Shahabad has consistently excelled in various spheres of life and continues to produce individuals of high calibre.

He expressed his pride in felicitating the students and emphasised the importance of aligning the educational system with modern tools and innovative practices. “We must empower our youth through quality education and embrace new-age learning solutions,” he remarked.

Highlighting the rich legacy of Government Model HSS Dooru, MLA said, “This institution, being one of the oldest in the region, has produced eminent personalities including bureaucrats, academicians, sportspersons, and intellectuals, and continues to uphold its tradition of excellence despite challenges.”

Ghulam Ahmad Mir also appreciated the thought-provoking skit on drug menace performed by the students, calling it a powerful message against a growing societal evil. “Drug menace is nothing less than a form of terrorism that is ruining our younger generation. We must fight it collectively, students, teachers, parents, and civil society must stand united,” he asserted.

He also urged authorities to enforce stricter measures to eliminate the scourge of drugs.
The MLA assured the school administration of his support in addressing infrastructural demands such as smart boards and transportation facilities. He also announced an educational-cum-interactive tour for the student team that performed the skit on the drug menace, as a token of appreciation.
Members from Civil Society and School also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, cultural performances and felicitation programmes were also held. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, teachers and local dignitaries.
