Gurez, Mar 03 : A flash flood, accompanied by snowfall, hit Barnoi Tulail village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday, causing damage to several residential properties.

According to the news agency, the incident left the area affected as the flash flood and heavy snowfall caused havoc in the village, damaging 14 properties. Murtaza Ahmad, a local, said many homes and storage structures used for ration and other supplies were damaged.

He said Tulail Valley has been experiencing heavy snowfall for the past few days, making snowslides, flash floods and avalanches increasingly common.

Meanwhile, other locals also confirmed that their properties were damaged and urged the government for support. They said flash floods and snow slides damaged their properties, storage sheds, residential structures, and roads, adding that the area is prone to avalanches.

Residents urged the administration to provide support for those whose properties were damaged in the natural calamity.

Another resident said that many villages in the area have been without electricity and urged the administration to restore it immediately
