Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam & Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Kulgam, a police party of PS DH Pora headed by SHO PS DH Pora at a checkpoint established at Kounsarbal intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by the alert police party, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
During the search, 110grams of charas was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Aejaz Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Rashid Malik resident of Ahmadabad. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police said.
“Similarly, a police party of Police Station Qazigund led by SHO PS Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Dalwach Qazigund intercepted a suspicious person identified as Gazanfar Ahmad Wani son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani resident of Banihal. During search, 02 grams of brown sugar was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
In Baramulla, a Police party under the supervision of SDPO Uri, assisted by SHO PS Boniyar, at a checkpoint established at Chellan Boniyar arrested 02 drug peddlers identified as Wazir Ahmad Joo son of Ali Mohammad resident of Trikanjan & Syed Shahid Hussain son of Syed Abid Hussain resident of Gingal. During checking, 120 grams of Charas and cash amount of ₹10,000/- (believed to be proceeds of narcotic crime) was recovered from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, police said that cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated.
“Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said—(KNO)
