Srinagar, Dec 11 : The Food Safety Department, Drug and Food Control Organization, Wednesday conducted an intensive inspection and sampling drive targeting Nanwaei (Kashmari roti makers) in Srinagar city.
An official told the news agency that the primary objective of this drive was to ensure the sanitary hygiene and quality of roti being sold to consumers.
Some Nanwaei were found violating sanitary standards, prompting the imposition of compounds under Section 69.
The drive aimed to verify the quality standards of Kashmiri roti, with samples of Maida and prepared dough lifted for analytical purposes.
Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, Yameen ul Nabi, assured that the drive will continue across Srinagar city, and anyone found violating hygiene and sanitary standards will be dealt with under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act
