SRINAGAR, MAY 09: College Wellbeing and Anti Substance Cell (CWASC) of Govt. College for Women (GCW), Nawakadal, organized a vital workshop titled “Parents and Civil Society Workshop on Early Warning Signs of Drugs” under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiative on Saturday.

The program was inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Huda Galzai, who detailed the workshop’s objectives and emphasized the pivotal role of the family in protecting students through early intervention and strong emotional support.

Staff Secretary, Prof. Hafeez Ullah Sheikh discussed the pervasive nuisance of drugs. Coordinator, CWASC, Dr. Nuzhat Qazi provided a technical report on the physical and behavioral symptoms of addiction and advocated for a 500-meter drug-free zone around the campus.

Prof. G. M. Wani (HOD Physics) insisted on the adoption of Sunnah in daily life and spoke extensively on the collective responsibility of the society, noting that a vigilant community acts as the ultimate shield for the youth. He urged civil society to stay connected and proactive in identifying local threats to ensure a safe, drug-free environment for the next generation.

Civil society members also spoke on the occasion and committed to grassroots action, with pledging to deliver dedicated awareness talks in the mosque to further strengthen the social fabric against this menace.
The event concluded with active participation from all faculty, parents, and civil society members, all united under the motto: “Choose Life, Reject Drugs, and Embrace the Future.”
