BASOHLI, MAY 04: Government Degree College Basohli organized an awareness lecture on provisions of the prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act 2013 and SHe Box initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof Raj Kiran Sharma emphasized the importance of creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment. Special focus was laid on the SHe Box initiative launched by the Government of India which provides an online platform to register complaints related to Sexual Harassment at work place. She also made the audience aware of various forms of Sexual Harassment at work place and within the educational institutions. She also emphasized the importance of lodging complaints on SIGMA portal.
Convener ICC Dr Irvinder Kour focused on sensitizing participants about their rights, responsibilities and the mechanisms available for addressing grievances related to sexual Harassment. She also emphasized the provisions of SPARSH (Sensitization to, Prevention of and Redressal of Sexual Harassment).
Students of the college actively participated in the programme. Dr Shubh Kumar, HoD Sanskrit, Dr. Suraya Partap Singh, Convener IQAC and other distinguished staff members were also present on the occasion. The whole event was conducted by HoD English Dr Ujhala Devi.
