BARAMULLA, APRIL 09: In a significant step towards youth empowerment and community outreach, an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) programme was organized today at Government Degree College (GDC) Baramulla under the ambit of the Pradhan Mantri Internship scheme.
The initiative aimed to harness the potential of young students by involving them directly in awareness generation related to key government schemes and developmental programmes.
The event was organized by the District Employment and Counselling Centre (DECC) Baramulla, and was attended by Assistant Director, DECC Baramulla, Rahil Amin, who also serves as the Nodal Officer for the Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Internship scheme in the district.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Government Degree Colleges of Baramulla, Pattan, Sopore, as well as Polytechnic College Kanispora Baramulla and Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Baramulla.
Interns actively engaged with the community through interactive sessions, informative talks, and direct interactions, disseminating vital information on entrepreneurship, skill development, self-employment opportunities, and various government welfare schemes.
Prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, Principal, Government Degree College Baramulla; Javed Ahmad, Principal, Industrial Training Institute Baramulla. Representatives of other Colleges, their presence added value to the programme and encouraged student participation.
To ensure wider outreach, pamphlets and IEC materials were distributed during the event. Q&A sessions further enriched the interaction, allowing participants to clarify doubts and better understand various schemes.
