DODA, JULY 26: Government Degree College (GDC) Doda commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas with deep patriotic fervour and honoured the supreme sacrifices of Heroes of the 1999 Kargil War.

The event was organised by the NCC Infantry and Naval Units of the College under the guidance of Principal Dr. Javed Iqbal Zarger, with the active coordination of Associate NCC Officer Lt. Dr. Jaswant Singh and CTO Dr. Barket Ali.

The ceremony aimed to instill a sense of nationalism, duty and pride among students, while remembering the valour of India’s brave soldiers.

The program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting and floral tribute ceremony, followed by the observance of a two-minute silence in honour of the martyrs. The atmosphere was filled with patriotic emotion as students and cadets rendered stirring patriotic songs, reflecting the spirit of unity and reverence for the armed forces. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Javed Iqbal Zarger underscored the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas as a reminder of the courage, resilience and determination of Indian soldiers. He encouraged the students to draw inspiration from the heroes who selflessly protected the nation’s borders.

Lt. Dr. Jaswant Singh, ANO of NCC GDC Doda, emphasized the importance of discipline, national security and civic responsibility. He motivated the cadets to embody the values of bravery and integrity in their daily lives and to stand prepared to contribute to the Nation’s service. The event also featured speeches and cultural performances by NCC cadets, who expressed their deep admiration for the soldiers’ sacrifices and pledged to uphold the ideals of unity and sacrifice.

The program concluded with the national anthem and a collective pledge to stay committed to national integration and patriotic values. Faculty members, students, NCC cadets and staff participated actively, making the event a moving tribute to the heroes of Kargil. Through such initiatives, GDC Doda continues to uphold its commitment to character-building, national awareness and holistic education.
