KISHTWAR, SEPTEMBER 24: As part of the “Sewa Parv” campaign, the Department of Library and Information Centre, Government Degree College Kishtwar today organized a Book Review Competition. The event aimed to attract students towards books and foster a vibrant reading culture within the institution.
The competition focused on Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiography “My Experiments with Truth”. The students presented thoughtful written reviews, highlighting its timeless relevance and moral values.
The programme was coordinated by Librarian of the College Rafiq Ahmad Rather, who deliberated on the importance of libraries in today’s digital environment and introduced students to the learning resources available in the College library.
A panel of judges — Dr. Mehraj Ud Din Lone, Prof. Prithvi Raj and Prof.Esar-ul-Ayoub evaluated the entries. Archana Dhar of semester 5th stood first while Chanaya Devi 5th semester secured 2nd position and third position was shared by Iram Naz of semester 3rd and Sameer Sharma of semester 5th.
The Principal of the College Prof. Basharat Iqbal congratulated the winners and appreciated the Library Department for taking this initiative under Sewa Parv. He advised the students to develop reading as a lifelong habit.
