GDC Shopian celebrates National Children’s Day 2024

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 14: Government Degree College (GDC) Shopian today celebrated National Children’s Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, first Prime Minister of India, known for his deep affection for children and his unwavering commitment to their development.

The event was organized by education department in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The celebration aimed to emphasize the importance of nurturing and empowering young minds who hold the key to a prosperous future.

In his inaugural address, Principal GDC Shopian, Prof. Mohammad Shafiq outlined the importance of education in holistic development of children while emphasizing on the role educators play in moulding responsible citizens. He encouraged the faculty and students to engage actively in initiatives that promote the welfare and growth of children.

While delivering keynote address, Convener of IQAC, Prof. M. A. Tak spoke in length about the importance of maintaining high standards in education and role of quality assurance in fostering an environment conducive to learning and growth. His words inspired the audience to reflect on their contributions to improving educational outcomes and supporting children’s aspirations.

In his welcome address, Dr. Hilal Bashir provided insights into the significance of National Children’s Day. He reminded the audience of the collective responsibility to support and uplift future generations.
Prof. Sheeraz Gull Sheikh, Prof. Iftikar Ahmad Pall and Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Lone also delivered special lectures on the occasion, focusing on emotional, social and psychological well-being of children.
Several students of GDC also shared wonderful thoughts about National Children’s Day on occasion.

An interactive question-answer session was also organised as part of celebrations, providing an opportunity for attendees to engage with the speakers. The session facilitated a productive dialogue, allowing participants to seek clarification and further explore the ideas presented during the lectures.
