BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 30: In a remarkable effort to promote Breast Cancer awareness across Kashmir, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, today organized Pinkayathon 25, the Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Mega Event.
The event aimed to sensitize students, doctors, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, and the broader healthcare community about the importance of early detection and prevention of breast cancer.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Principal GMC Baramulla, Prof. Dr. Majid Jahangir, in presence of Medical Superintendent, Registrar Academics, HOD, Obstetrics & Gynecology and other officials.
The event witnessed active participation of Heads of Departments, faculty members, administrative officers, nursing staff, District Health Officer, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, and students, showcasing a united commitment toward women’s health.
Speaking on the occasion, the Principal GMC Baramulla emphasized the vital role of healthcare professionals in spreading awareness at the community level and encouraging regular self-examination and screening for early detection of breast cancer.
The technical sessions during the event covered various aspects of breast cancer pathology, diagnostic procedures, and the significance of mammography in early diagnosis and treatment planning.
The event concluded with the symbolic formation of a human pink ribbon followed by a walkathon, reflecting solidarity and commitment in the fight against breast cancer.
