MENDHAR, AUGUST 03: A Health Department team today conducted an on-spot assessment of the healthcare needs in landslide-affected Jabran Surhoti area in Mendhar.

On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma and Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Poonam Sethi, the medical team provided free essential medicines to the residents living in the vulnerable zone. Comprehensive awareness sessions were also organised focusing on the prevention of water-borne and vector-borne diseases, including all major seasonal and environment-related illnesses that can emerge in the aftermath of landslides and disrupted living conditions.

The initiative was launched under the overall supervision of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan and continuous monitoring by Block Medical Officer Mendhar Dr. Gazala Chowdhury.

Special emphasis was laid on safe drinking water practices, personal hygiene, proper sanitation, mosquito control measures and early reporting of symptoms so that timely medical intervention can be ensured. The health authorities have assured the local population of continuous medical support and surveillance to safeguard public health in the affected area.
