BANDIPORA, MAY 05: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, HKM Degree College Bandipora on Tuesday organized a series of awareness rallies aimed at promoting a drug-free society and spreading awareness on road safety among the general public.

The programmes were conducted under the guidance of the Principal, Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra. The NSS Units

in collaboration with the NCORD Cell, and the Road Safety Club of the college organised separate rallies involving active participation of students and faculty members.
Students carried banners and placards displaying messages against drug abuse, rash driving, and intoxicated driving, while advocating healthy and responsible lifestyles.

College coordinators for the 100-day campaign, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Parey and Dr. Wasia Hamid, addressed the participants and interacted with shopkeepers, chemists, drivers, and commuters during the rallies. They sensitised the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse, the importance of road safety, adherence to traffic rules, and the collective responsibility of society in curbing substance abuse.

The Road Safety Club rally, organised under the mentorship of Convener Dr. Mubashir Hamid Mir, also focused on discouraging negligent driving and promoting the use of safety gear. During the outreach, faculty members counselled pillion riders found without helmets and distributed helmets to some riders as part of the awareness initiative.

The programmes witnessed active cooperation from the District Police Department, which ensured the smooth conduct of the rallies.

The events served as an effective outreach initiative, extending awareness beyond the college campus into the wider community and reinforcing the message that a united effort is essential to build a safe, healthy, and drug-free society.
