KUPWARA, FEBRUARY 12: A Human Resource Development (HRD) Programme on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) was successfully organized by the Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Srinagar, at KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK), Kupwara.
The event was held in collaboration with the State Agriculture Department, Kupwara, and KVK Kupwara, with an aim to promote sustainable pest management practices among farmers and agricultural professionals.
The programme featured insightful lectures by eminent experts. Deputy Director, CIPMC Jammu Dr.Mithilesh Kumar Arya delivered a session on the safe and judicious use of pesticides, emphasizing responsible application techniques; APPO, CIPMC Srinagar Dr. Haroon Rashid Hakla introduced participants to the NPSS Mobile App, a digital tool for plant protection; SMS (SDL), Kupwara Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh spoke on organic farming, highlighting its benefits in sustainable agriculture; SMS (Plant Protection) Dr.Firdous Ahmed Raina discussed IPM strategies, advocating for eco-friendly pest control methods.
The programme was presided over by Mukhtar Ahmed, DAO Kupwara, and the Head of KVK Kupwara, who lauded the initiative and encouraged farmers to adopt IPM techniques for better crop health and productivity.
The event witnessed active participation from farmers and agricultural officers, making it a valuable learning experience for all.
