BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 18: The Inter-District Provincial Level (IDPL) Karate Championship for Boys in all age groups concluded today at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Budgam.
The championship was organised by the District Youth Services and Sports Office, Budgam.
The event was conducted under the directions of Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Anuradha Gupta, and under the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Budgam, Jai Pal Singh.
District Pulwama secured the first position, followed by District Budgam in second place and District Anantnag in third place.
At the concluding ceremony, District Information Officer (DIO) Budgam, Mir Liyaqat Ali, was the Chief Guest. He felicitated the participating players and presented trophies and medals to the position-holding districts. Players were also awarded medals in recognition of their performances.
Speaking on the occasion, the DIO highlighted the important role of sports in keeping youth away from drugs and other negative influences. He urged young people to actively participate in sports and channelise their energy in a positive direction, saying that sports help inculcate discipline, confidence, teamwork and a healthy competitive spirit, thereby contributing to a stronger society.
The championship provided young karate players with an opportunity to showcase their talent and sporting skills while promoting discipline, sportsmanship and a positive sporting culture among youth.
