In a significant political development, independent candidate Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray, along with his loyal supporters, formally aligned with former Minister and MLA Bandipora, Usman Majid, on Wednesday.
Tantray along with his loyalists were warmly welcomed by Usman Majid, who expressed optimism that Tantray’s entry would strengthen the party at the grassroots level. Majid emphasized that the addition of Tantray and his supporters would bring valuable insights and fresh energy to their political journey.
Announcing his support for Usman Majid, Tantray said that he wanted to back a leader with both vision and a strong voice. “There is no better leader in Bandipora than Usman Majid,” Tantray remarked, highlighting Majid’s leadership qualities.
Welcoming Tantray into the fold, Majid said that this move would significantly boost their campaign and further consolidate his influence in the Bandipora constituency. He described Tantray’s decision to join them as a testament to the growing support for their vision for Bandipora. Majid highlighted that Tantray’s experience and influence would be instrumental as they work together for the betterment of the district.
On the occasion, Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray expressed his belief that by aligning with Usman Majid, he could contribute significantly to Bandipora’s progress. He pledged his full commitment to their shared vision of development, particularly within the Bandipora constituency.
Majid also convened a meeting in the Shahgund area of the Bandipora Constituency, where numerous political workers from the Congress Party were welcomed into their fold. He noted that their movement is not only progressing steadily but also growing stronger with each passing day, as they continue to gain support from individuals across various walks of life.
Majid also addressed a series of meetings in Bunkoot Block and Nussoo, Tarkpora areas of the Bandipora Constituency. These gatherings were part of his ongoing efforts to strengthen his support base and reach every corner of Bandipora. Addressing the meetings, Majid said, “Our movement is reaching every household in Bandipora, and we are committed to ensuring equitable development across the region.”
Majid also met with several farmers in the Shahgund area of the Bandipora Constituency, where he engaged with them, listened to their concerns, and discussed the challenges they face. During his visit, he briefly joined the farmers in harvesting activities.
Meanwhile, DDC member Firdousa Akhter also addressed a series of meetings in various areas of the Bandipora constituency, including Konan and Mantrigam areas. These gatherings were part of efforts to intensify the election campaign and strengthen the support base of Usman Majid.
During these meetings, Firdousa welcomed several political workers from various parties, including the Congress, who joined forces with Usman Majid. Expressing his delight at the new additions to his political camp, Firdousa asserted that the Joining of new entrants brings strength and unity to their collective efforts in serving the people of Bandipora.
