Inspection of pharmaceutical establishments held to ensure compliance with regulatory directives at Anantnag

ANANTNAG, MAY 22: In an ongoing effort to enhance security and streamline operations in pharmaceutical establishments, District Anantnag conducted a comprehensive inspection today, covering various retail and wholesale outlets in Mattan, KP Road, and Qazigund areas.

Led by District Coordination Officers (DCOs), over 30 inspections were carried out to ensure compliance with regulatory directives.

During the inspections, it was found that the majority of establishments had taken significant steps towards compliance. Notably, more than 75% of the firms had successfully implemented computerized billing systems and installed CCTV cameras as per the directives laid out. These measures are crucial for enhancing transparency, accountability, and security within the pharmaceutical sector.

However, it was observed that one retail firm, Shah Medical Store Mattan had failed to adhere to the directives regarding the installation of CCTV cameras and computerized billing systems. As a result, the operation of Shah Medical Store Mattan has been temporarily suspended until compliance is achieved.

Additionally, notices were issued to five establishments for other violations of provisions under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940. This underscores the commitment of District Anantnag to enforce regulatory standards and ensure public safety.

Recognizing the importance of technology adoption, efforts were made to educate and assist pharmacists in transitioning to computerized billing systems. Chemists in the inspected areas were provided with firsthand information about the benefits of computerized billing systems and were encouraged to embrace the technology for efficient invoice generation and record maintenance.

For those establishments yet to adopt computerized billing systems, a grace period of three days has been provided to facilitate the installation of necessary software.
